Platinum Golden Retrievers call Lakeville, Massachusetts, their home. Blair Kauanen and her family run the Platinum Golden Retrievers. They breed American Standard Golden Retrievers on their 6-acre wooded property. But the most important detail is that their Golden Retrievers are produced to the AKC Breed Standards. The Platinum Golden Retrievers’ breeding dams come from long lines of champions. Above all else, health and temperament are a priority for Blair. This is verified through her memberships in the Golden Retriever Club of America, the AKC, and the AKC H.E.A.R.T. Program.
The H.E.A.R.T. Program focuses on health, education, accountability, responsibility, and tradition through the AKC. As a member of the H.E.A.R.T. Program, Platinum Golden Retrievers certifies their breeding stock is health tested in accordance with the National Breed Club. Additionally, this family only breeds litters from sires and dams that have their hips registered with OFA, the Orthopedic Foundation of Animals, and are free of genetic hip disease. The sire and dams have their hearts certified by a cardiologist. Their eyes are also certified by an ophthalmologist. So you know you are getting a healthy new friend.
Platinum Golden Breeders promises to continue their breeder education on best breeding practices and advances in canine health. They get their education from AKC-provided or AKC-approved courses. In addition, as a H.E.A.R.T. Program breeder, they promise to comply with AKC Care and Conditions Policy. This means submitting health testing results and the documentation of their continuing education. So they accept the responsibility for the health and well-being of the puppies they breed and comply with laws regarding the care and ownership of dogs. As a member of this program, they uphold the AKC tradition of breeding purebred dogs that are happy and healthy.
All the Platinum Golden Retriever’s dogs live in the home with the Kauranen family. Not only do they live inside the family home, but all of the puppies are handled at an early age for socialization. But none of the puppies are for breeding or show purposes. If you want to show your Golden Retriever, then this is not the breeder for you. Platinum Golden Retrievers only breed puppies as companions and service animals. The puppy contract goes over the spay and neutering requirements.
As with all reputable breeders, they require a contract to purchase a puppy. You can read the contract on the Platinum Golden Retrievers website. The first thing mentioned is the health guarantee. The puppies first receive examinations by the vet around seven weeks of age. All of the puppies come with a 72-hour health guarantee. After you bring your puppy home bring it to your vet for a health check within 72 hours. If there are any abnormal health irregularities bring the puppy back with the paperwork and a letter from your vet. The letter must state why the puppy is unhealthy.
To ensure the dog is cared for over its entire life, they require you to contact them if you cannot keep the dog for any reason, at any time throughout its life.
